How to Tie Taekwondo Belts

How to Tie Taekwondo Belts thumbnail
A black belt is the highest belt achievable in taekwondo.

The color of your taekwondo belt demonstrates your ability. You will first start with a white belt, and make your way up to a black belt, passing belt tests along the way. Your taekwondo belt needs to be properly tightened to prevent it from coming loose while you are practicing taekwondo.

Instructions

    • 1

Fold your belt in half, and place the middle of the belt near your belly button.

    • 2

Wrap the belt around your waist. Pull both ends of the belt to the front of your body. Hold the belt in place with your left hand.

    • 3

Pass the right end of the belt upward though the inside of the belt. Pull on both ends to make the belt tighter on your body.

    • 4

Wrap the right end of the belt over the left end. Pull both ends through the hole.

    • 5

Pull both ends of the belt to tighten the knot. Both ends should be even.
