Shampoo With Coconut Oil
-
1
Coconut oil is very moisturizing to both the skin and scalp. Crack one egg into your blender, then discard the egg shell. Add 1 tsp. each of coconut oil and lemon juice to the egg in the blender.
-
2
Grate 1 tbsp. of castile soap, using your cheese grater. Add the grated castile soap to the blender and follow it with 1/2 cup of cooled, brewed herbal tea.

3
Create a fragrant shampoo by dropping one drop of the essential oil of your choice into the blender with the rest of the ingredients. Personalize your homemade coconut oil shampoo by adding a fragrance that's pleasing to you.
-
4
Whip all the ingredients in the blender until your coconut oil shampoo is smooth. Pour the shampoo into your plastic container and keep it refrigerated until use. Wash your hair with warm water, not hot, when using your homemade shampoo with egg so the egg doesn't harden or "cook."

5
Measure and pour 1 cup each of olive oil and coconut oil into a cooking pot. Heat the oils, allowing them to reach a temperature between 100 and 125 degrees.
-
6
Grate 12 ounces of white bar soap and add to the heated oils, along with 9 ounces of water. Slowly stir the mixture, over low heat on the stove, for 15 minutes until it thickens like pudding. If, after 15 minutes, the soap mixture is still not thick, continue to cook for another 15 minutes, stirring at five minute intervals.
-
7
Use simple or fancy soap molds. Remove the soap mixture from the heat and pour the soap into your soap molds. Place your filled soap molds in a cool, dry place for three days to allow the soap to harden and cure.
-
8
Pop the hardened soap out of the soap molds after three days. If the soap still feels soft, allow it to sit for a few more days to finish the hardening process.

Tips & Warnings
Make a tropical shampoo by adding an essential oil such as vanilla, strawberry or an exotic flower oil to your coconut shampoo.
One cup of tallow and 4 ounces of lye can be used in place of the white bar soap but the fumes can be very strong for about 30 to 45 seconds and you must wear goggles and gloves to protect your skin and eyes.
