Write a mission statement or an outline of goals for the modeling troupe you want to put together. You will need to know the purpose of your troupe and what it can offer anyone who joins. If your intent is to get your troupe into established fashion shows, that needs to be part of your goal outline. If you want to produce your own shows, you need to have that in your goal outline. The purpose of your modeling troupe will help you determine the people you allow to join your troupe. You'll also want to name your modeling troupe. Think of names that might fit the purpose of the group. "Fresh Faces" or something along those lines are the types of names to consider.

Develop a contract. The contract should be general enough to take into account the varied types of people you might need for a modeling troupe. These people include models, makeup and wardrobe people, and production people. Consider using a lawyer to help draft the contract to ensure you cover all the legal bases regarding pay, exclusivity clauses and benefits. The lawyer can also help you draft a contract for investors, which should be separate from the contract for creative members of the troupe.

Put together a board of advisers made up of yourself and those who have a vested interest in your troupe. This could include anyone who might have invested money, stage directors or any partners you may have. The advisory board should consist of between three and five members. Auditions and other important decisions will rest in the hands of the advisers, so having an uneven number leaves open the opportunity for tie breaking when votes are called.

Develop the theme of your modeling troupe if there will be one. Some modeling troupes include models of all types, but others are built around themes. Your modeling troupe may be based around a specific body type, such as plus size models, or it might be based around a specific type of fashion. Keep in mind that limiting your troupe to a specific theme will also limit the events your troupe can participate in.

Create a social network site, such as a Facebook or MySpace site, or create a website for your modeling troupe. A link on the website to your initial application is a good way to attract a variety of models and help you begin the process of auditions.

Audition potential models. You will be looking for models who are willing and able to follow your modeling troupe wherever your shows are. Hold the auditions with your advisory board. You'll need to locate a theater or auditorium to hold proper auditions. If you have the upfront capital, rent an auditorium. Visit churches, schools or other organizations that might be willing to rent their facilities to you for the time you need them. In addition to having potential models model for you, you will want to read their resumes and bios to help you make a determination as to whether or not the model is a good fit for your troupe.
