Instructions

    • 1

Select a carrier oil for the massage oil. Sweet almond oil works well for facial treatments and full body massages. Choose wheat germ or rose hip oil to nourish and soften the skin. Many carrier oils exist, and you will need to research to ensure that you use the right oils for the type of massage that will be used.

    • 2

Pour six teaspoons of the carrier oil into a dark, airtight container to protect the oil from the effects of air and sunlight.

    • 3

Add eight drops of your preferred essential oils to the bottle. You can mix essential oils, or use only one type if you prefer. Common essential oils include lavender, rosemary, jasmine and grape seed.

    • 4

Screw the lid onto the glass bottle. Shake the glass bottle to mix the oils.

    • 5

Store the massage oils in a dark environment.

Tips & Warnings

  • Warm the oils on the stovetop over low heat before a massage.

  • Do not store the massage oils in a light-colored or or plastic container, or the oil may become contaminated.

  • Use caution when using essential oils. Do not use essential oils if you are pregnant or nursing or have preexisting medical conditions.

  • Do not leave essential oils unattended on the stove top. The oils can catch on fire.

  • Always place the essential oils on the stove top under the lowest heat setting possible. Stir them constantly to keep them from sticking, and never take your eyes off the oils. Always check the temperature of the oil prior to use to avoid burns.
