How To Clean HanStone Quartz Countertops

HanStone Quartz countertops by Hanwha L&C are countertops made of quartz composite material—a Hanwha proprietary blend of quartz, polymer resin and pigment(s) that creates a strong, durable, stain-resistant surface that matches well with nearly any interior color scheme. Cleaning HanStone Quartz countertops isn’t difficult because the glossy, flat surfaces, unlike many non-composite natural stone countertops, is designed to repel liquids and staining substances that non-composite natural stone surfaces typically absorb. As a result, cleaning only requires washing surfaces with a mild detergent after a spill or at least once daily and weekly dusting with a soft cloth. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Microfiber cloths

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a sink with warm water and add enough mild, non-abrasive detergent to the water to make it soapy.

    • 2

Dunk a clean, soft, lint-free microfiber cloth in the water, squeeze out some of the excess water and wipe all of your HanStone Quartz countertop surfaces at the end of the day. If dealing with a spill, wipe away the spill with a damp cloth and then clean the area with a soapy cloth.

    • 3

Scrub any tough stains or hardened debris from the surface gently using light pressure with a non-abrasive nylon scrubbing pad or dampened melamine resin foam--Hanwha recommends Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. If the stain or hardened debris remains, scrape the area gently with a plastic scraper or put on a mask and gloves and apply a commercial cleaner, such as Simple Green, 10x Stone Polish, Hope Surface cleaner, Rock Doctor stone cleaner or denatured alcohol to the area. Wait five minutes, or as directed by the manufacturer of the product, and then scrub or scrape the area again.

    • 4

Wipe the surface thoroughly with clean, damp cloths to remove all detergent, debris or commercial cleaner residues.

    • 5

      Wipe the surface dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • Protect the surface from high temperature and scratching by using trivets, hot pads and cutting boards.

  • To remove difficult stains, nail polish or adhesives, rub acetone or acetone-based nail polish onto the surface until the stain or adhesive transfers to your cloth or no more than four minutes after application—whichever happens first. Rinse the area thoroughly with a damp cloth. Wash with a soapy cloth, rinse again and wipe dry.

  • To remove gum, freeze the gum with an ice cube to make it brittle and then scrape gently from the surface with a plastic scraper.

  • Always wipe up spills immediately to stop surface etching from highly acidic foods.

  • Harsh or abrasive cleaners, strong chemicals and solvents can damage HanStone Quartz countertops. Never use bleach, chlorine-based methylene chloride or trichloroethylene, bluing, paint strippers or thinners, benzene, toluene, methyl ethyl ketone, acids such as hydrochloric, hydrocyanic, hydrofluoric, nitric or sulfuric, or any highly alkaline-based cleaners on HanStone.

  • Never allow acetone or acetone-based nail polish to remain on your countertop surface longer than four minutes as it can damage the countertop with prolonged exposure.
