Instructions for Crayon Bags
Even the youngest children enjoy creating pictures and artworks with wax crayons. Unfortunately, crayons can sometimes become broken or chipped, and the paper covers can easily rip. In order to prevent crayons from becoming damaged in these ways, it is helpful to make a crayon bag, which contains individual compartments for each crayon. To successfully make a crayon bag, it is important to follow a few simple steps to ensure that the crayons will fit inside the compartments.

1
Cut three strips of fabric. One strip should measure 11 inches long and 3 inches wide. The other two strips should measure 11 inches long and 5 inches wide.
-
2
Place one of the larger strips horizontally on a table.
-
-
3
Place the smaller strip on top of the larger one, lining up the bottom edges.
-
4
Cut a piece of ribbon to measure 24 inches long.
-
5
Fold the ribbon in half lengthwise, and lay it horizontally across the shapes. A small loop should stick out of the side.
-
6
Place the second larger strip of fabric on top of the stack, lining up the edges with the first large strip you placed on the table.
-
7
Thread a needle, and stitch around the entire perimeter of the stack, leaving roughly 2 inches not sewn along one edge.
-
8
Turn the stack inside out using the unsewn area.
-
9
Turn the edges of the unsewn area inward, and sew it flush with the rest of the stitches.
-
10
Lay the bag on the table horizontally, flattening it out.
-
11
Starting at the left-hand side, use a pencil to draw out a pattern on the front of the bag. The pattern: moves up 4 inches, to the right 1 inch, down 4 inches and to the right 1 inch. Continue with this pattern until you reach the right-hand side of the bag.
-
12
Thread a needle, and sew along the lines you drew. This will create compartments in which the crayons can be inserted.
