How to Choose a Career for Catholics
As a Catholic, you want to choose a career which allows you to live out your faith with integrity and influence society in a positive way since service to others is a part of Catholic theology. You should talk with your parents, friends, church priest and school career counselor about what careers will enable you to remain faithful as a Catholic and have a rewarding career that lets you sustain yourself financially.

Consider a career in social services. For example, you can be a caseworker for your local branch of Catholic Charities. Catholic Charities is a non-profit organization that assists community residents in obtaining material goods for emergencies, subsidized housing, job training and services for the disabled and senior citizens.

Look for job opportunities in education. You don't always have to be a teacher to work in education. You could work for a learning center in your area as a tutor, or as a career counselor or academic advisor at a university. If you prefer educational leadership positions and you hold an advanced degree, seek out a position as a secondary school principal, research coordinator for your state's department of education or as a college department dean at a Catholic university.

Seek jobs in counseling. If you desire to counsel troubled married couples and help them improve their relationships, do research on how to become a licensed marriage and family counselor. Usually you will need both a bachelor's and master's degree in psychology or counseling, and you will need to take a state exam in order to receive the license.
