Hold the TV mount to the fireplace where you want to hang the TV. You will need a friend to hold the TV for you while you secure the mount to the brick. Position the TV mount in a place where the the mounting holes are centered on the brick. Brick is a strong material that can easily support a TV wall mount. Centering on the brick is important, because drilling through the brick can cause chipping.

Put on your safety goggles or other eye protection. Place the masonry drill bit through the mounting holes of the TV mount onto the brick, and drill. Spread Gorilla Glue or another brand of multipurpose polyurethane adhesive over the outside of the wall anchors, and insert them into the drill holes. Spread the glue over the mounting screws, then place them through the mounting holes of the wall mount into the wall anchors. Use a Phillips screwdriver or a wrench, depending on the mounting hardware that came with your wall mount, and tighten the mounting holes.

Bring the TV to the wall mount. You will need your friend to hold the TV for you so you can secure the TV to the wall mount. Guide the TV in the proper position so the VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) screw holes of the wall mount line up with the VESA holes in the TV. Put the VESA screws through the holes in the mount into the TV. Tighten the VESA screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

Tips & Warnings

  • Before starting, it's a good idea to build a roaring fire in the fireplace, let it burn for an hour, and place a thermometer where you plan to hang the TV. If the heat is higher than 90 degrees Fahrenheit, you are at risk of damaging your TV. Anything below 90 degrees is safe.
