How to Be a Mac Makeup Artist

According to MacPro.com, Mac does not offer makeup artistry certification, but it does have master classes available to members of the Mac Pro and Mac Pro Student Program. According to Mac, the program offers "unique educational experiences" and a "direct link to the Mac world." Master classes, generally two hours each, are designed to sharpen the skills of industry professionals and students while providing the opportunity to interact with top makeup artists. Class material generally features a specific aspect of makeup in Mac and Mac Pro stores while incorporating the latest in trends and techniques. Program memberships are only open to qualified makeup professionals or students attending a eligible school or institution. The application process will help you determine if you qualify for the program.

Instructions

1. Check the membership prerequisites for qualification. You must be a makeup professional, such as a makeup artist, fashion stylist or photographer, to qualify for the Mac Pro program. To qualify for the student program, you must be a student at an eligible school or institute of learning that has undergone an approval process by the Mac Artist Relations Department. 2. Complete the application as requested. Select only one category/profession and provide your email address for an expedited response.

3. Provide two pieces of professional criteria, such as a business card and professional license, or proof of student enrollment. Visit MacPro.com for specific details.

4. Provide a copy of photo identification to confirm proof of profession or enrollment.

5. Pay the membership fee of $35 U.S./$45 Canadian for a Pro membership or $10 U.S./Canadian for a student membership. Both are payable by check, money order or credit card.

6. Deliver the application, payment and required paperwork in person to any Mac store for forwarding, or mail to the processing department at Mac Pro Membership, P.O. Box 435, 3219 Yonge St., Toronto, Ontario M4N 3S1 or Mac Pro Membership, 2316 Delaware Ave., P.O. Box 289, Buffalo, NY 14216-2687.
