ClearType makes text appear more like it would on a printed page.

ClearType is a feature of Microsoft Windows that smooths the jagged edges of on-screen text to make it more readable, particularly on flat-panel LCD displays. On newer monitors, ClearType tends to make text more readable, more closely resembling print. However, this feature can make text appear blurry to some, particularly on older CRT displays. Internet Explorer 7 includes a feature that allows ClearType to be enabled or disabled. Disable ClearType in Internet Explorer 7 if you find that the font smoothing makes text difficult to read when you browse the Web.
