1
Start on the walls in your paneled bedroom by filling the gaps in the paneling with spackling compound. Apply it using your putty knife; work on one section of paneling at a time. While the spackling compound is still wet, scrap down along the gaps with your putty knife to remove the excess. Allow the spackle to dry. Sand it until it's even with the rest of the wall. Paint the walls with an interior semi-gloss paint in a light hue. Consider shades of white, cream or beige, as these create an illusion of a larger bedroom. Allow paint to dry thoroughly--approximately 3 hours--before moving on to the next step.

2
Stencil a design over the doorway and windows in the bedroom; the color of paint will vary depending on the color scheme you've chosen for your bedroom. This adds detail to the bedroom.
