How to Make Unique Wedding Card Holders
A wedding card holder is typically a bowl or basket guests can place wedding cards and gift checks in as they enter the reception. A popular trend has been using bird cages and decorated mail boxes to hold wedding cards; however, if you are looking for a unique touch, this will not be the way to go. For a unique, personal and one-of-a-kind wedding card holder, your best bet is to create one yourself. This way you know no one else will ever have a duplicate of it.

1
Choose a large box with a cover to house the invitations. The box should be wide enough and deep enough to hold many cards of a variety of sizes. Purchase a large card from the store to test the box size.

2
Lay the fabric over and around the box and box cover and cut down to a similar size. Glue the fabric down onto the box and trim any excess away, or tuck the extra fabric in the inside of the box and glue it down.

Cut a slit in the top center of the box lid, approximately a third of an inch wide, to make for easy insertion of cards. Use the purchased sample greeting card as a guide for determining the length of the slit.

Add decorative elements like seashells, beading, flower pedals, ribbon or even photos. For an elegant look, try a simple bow out of a silk or satin ribbon. For a fun, beach feel, cover the box with seashells and sand, glued down. A romantic touch could include glued-on rose pedals around a black and white photo of the couple. Use beads to spell out the couple's initials for a personal touch.
