How to Make Glass in Maya 3D
Maya is one of the most widely used 3-D animation and modeling programs on the market. In its various incarnations, it has been used to create 3-D content and animation for movies, television shows and video games. Unlike some 3-D programs that are suited to a particular task such as modeling or rendering, Maya is a complete suite of 3-D tools and capabilities. You can even create transparent glass with Maya. The process is fairly complex, but can be quickly accomplished once you know how.

3
Go to the "Ramp Attributes." Adjust the gradient so that it is dark at the top and white at the bottom.

4
Click on the "Reflected Color" button. In the dialog that appears, choose "ramp." In the "Ramp Attributes" make the gradient entirely white.
-
5
Select "Window" from the menu and choose "Rendering." From the options, choose "Hypershade." From the nodes that appear on the left, select the "sampler info utility" and drag it onto the white "Reflection Ramp Node." From the options, choose "Other."
-
6
Go to the "Connection Editor" and create a connection between the "Facing Ratio" and the "V coordinate." Repeat this process with the other ramp, dragging the "sampler info node" onto the "White Transparency Ramp." Also make the connection between the "Facing Ratio" and the "V coordinate." You can now assign the material to any object you choose.
