How to Maintain a Crocodile Purse

Crocodile leather is very resilient, but you should keep in mind that dust and dirt buildup might harm the structure of this type of leather. Instructions

1. Wipe off your crocodile handbag with a damp cloth on a periodic basis. How often you need to wipe it down will depend on its use. If you use it on a daily basis, you may need to do this once a month. Otherwise, if you use your crocodile purse only on special occasions, you may not need to do this more than twice a year.

2. Place a small amount of the exotic leather cleaner on a soft towel. You should use this only if you have a stained area or have an excessive amount of dirt or dust buildup on the leather.

3. Rub it gently into the leather. It will clean, condition and soften the leather and there is no need to wipe it off.

• Purchase a cleaner specifically for exotic leathers when you buy your handbag. If you do happen to get a stain on it, you will not have to spend hours tracking down a product made for crocodile leather. Make sure it is specifically for exotic or crocodile leather, but if you purchase one for all leather types, check that it has only a small percentage of lanolin in it for the best results.

• Avoid storing your handbag where it will receive harsh sunlight or near a radiator or heating vent. This will dry out the skin and it will lose its natural sheen.

• Always have an umbrella handy during inclement weather. Rainwater will cause the leather to bubble and can ruin it. If you are caught in a rainstorm, dry your crocodile purse off with a soft towel as soon as possible and allow it to dry naturally.

• Avoid spilling any drinks or getting any stains on your crocodile leather. Protect it from any surface that may scratch it. This can ruin the look of the leather and the stains and scratches may not be repairable.
