A good up-to-date resume can give you an edge in the real estate job market.

Writing a good resume is key to getting any job, as it showcases your education, work experience and special skills to employers. A CV should be direct and informative in order to quickly communicate your potential to an employer. Since employers often have very little time to sift through a large amount of information, your resume should specifically outline your experience relating to the job at hand. This is especially true with niche jobs, like real estate.

Instructions

    • 1

List your basic information at the top of the CV. This should include your name, email, phone numbers and address. Choose an email address that is professional, and consider using an address that is dedicated to your job hunt to prevent employer emails from being lost amidst personal emails.

    • 2

List relevant work experience from most recent to least recent. Ideally these jobs should reflect your experience with real estate. Other jobs may be listed, but describe them in a manner that makes them relevant to your current position as a real estate agent. For example, if you worked a car salesman, emphasize that you were in sales and de-emphasize what you were selling, since your skills will apply to your position as a real estate agent.

    • 3

Under each job position, describe your responsibilities and duties. Use facts and figures to showcase your accomplishments in certain jobs. Also, succinctly describe your positions in terms of their applicability to real estate.

    • 4

List any relevant special skills you may have. These are skills that may not be specifically in any one job description, but refer to general strengths you have acquired, such as computer skills.

    • 5

Proofread your CV. Check for any errors in punctuation, grammar, spelling or style. Get two friends to help you proofread your resume.

Tips & Warnings

  • Print out your resume on high quality paper and keep several copies.

  • Always keep your resume updated
