How to Make Homemade Foam Stamps

Foam stamps can be used for a number of different projects from stamping images onto walls with paint, to decorative t-shirts, to stamping images on paper crafts in ink. Foam stamps are fairly inexpensive in craft stores, especially when compared to rubber or clear stamps, but they can be even less expensive if you make them yourself.

Instructions

    • 1

Take one of your craft foam sheets and draw the design you want for your stamp onto the sheet with a pencil.

    • 2

Cut the design out by tracing the lines you drew with a craft knife.

    • 3

Trace the first cut out design onto another sheet of craft foam, or onto the first sheet if enough room is left and cut out the same design again using a craft knife.

    • 4

Use foam glue to glue the two designs together to make one single thicker design.

    • 5

Cut three pieces of craft foam in either rectangles or squares, all the same size, large enough to fit the design you cut out on their surface.

    • 6

Glue the three rectangle or square pieces of foam together to create on thicker rectangle or square; this is your stamp block.

    • 7

Glue the design onto the stamp block once both are dry. Let your stamp dry completely before use.

    • 8

Use your stamp with an ink pad the same you would a rubber or clear stamp or with paint by dabbing paint onto the stamp with a foam brush.

    • 9

Place the inked stamp, design side down, onto a piece of paper and apply even pressure to the stamp. Lift the stamp straight up to view your stamped image.
