Setting a decal on an object can be frustrating when it does not set in the correct position. Peeling off the decal after it is stuck in place can pull the finish off of the object or rip the decal. Luckily, there is a very simple way to control the decal while it is on the object so that the decal does not stick. A soapy solution made with ordinary household components allows the decal to slide around until you decide on the correct location.

Pour 1 cup of warm water into a mixing bowl. Place 1/4 cup of liquid hand soap into the mixing bowl. Mix the soap with the water for 30 seconds with the spoon. A soapy solution will not harm the object or the decals.

Fold a single paper towel sheet into quarters. Dip one corner of the folded paper towel sheet into the soapy solution.

Peel the decal from the translucent paper and turn the decal to the adhesive side. Rub the soapy solution soaked into the paper towel over the adhesive side of the decal.

Place the decal on the object until you position the decal in the desired spot. Firmly press the decal in place. Let the decal dry overnight onto the object.
