How to Make a Cardboard Desk
Make an inexpensive cardboard desk just for the fun of it and include your children in the process, or do it all yourself and surprise them! If you have two children, make sure not to make the mistake of making them their own desks. Think about how cute it will be to see them battling over airtime as Jay Leno and Conan O'Brian. The best part about a cardboard desk is that they can be drawn on and ruined with no worries, but at the same time can be used time after time since cardboard is made from a sustainable resource.

1
Remove the flaps of the open end of each box. These flaps will only get in the way. Make sure you select a box that is intact with only one open end and that the rest of the box is enclosed. It's important that both boxes are the same height.

2
Place the two cardboard boxes side by side with the open ends on the same side facing you. The open ends of the box will allow proper leg space for the person sitting at the desk. These boxes will be used to support the weight of the entire desk and the items you have on it, so make sure these boxes are in good shape with no structural bends or water damage. The stronger the foundation, the stronger the desk.

Separate the two boxes enough to spread glue on the two sides that come into contact with each other, then reposition the boxes next to each other. Press the box walls with glue on them together, and use a circular motion with each hand to form a seal. This will create a sturdy desk that will cover your legs. If you are happy with this type of desk, you are done. For a desk that shows your legs, continue to the next step.

4
Cut a window out of the visitor side of each box. Do not totally remove this side of the boxes as this will weaken the structure. Make sure to leave a 3 inch border around all four sides of the window of the box. Leave the middle joining part of the boxes untouched.
