How to Make Halupki

Halupki is an Eastern European dish known also as stuffed cabbage. It is a simple dish to make. Some variations to the below recipe are common. Many people include onions or garlic. Halupki can be served as a stand-alone dish or over a bed of rice. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 3 lb hamburg
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup uncooked rice
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 2 heads cabbage
  • 1 cup tomato soup

Instructions

      Boil cabbage until leaves come off easily, 15 to 20 minutes.

      Mix hamburg, eggs, rice and parsley.

      Roll small amount of the mixture in a cabbage leaf.

      Place the cabbage rolls in a roaster or pan. Pour soup and sauce over the top.

      Bake three hours on 350 degrees.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add water or extra sauce of tops start to burn.

  • Place open part of cabbage roll on bottom so it does not open up.
