How to Design an Interior Modern Office
Modern offices provide a streamlined look that contributes an uncluttered atmosphere to the work area. Many offices are replacing cubicles with airy desks that connect employees to each other and reinforce the company's desire for exchanging innovative ideas. This also gives supervisors the ability to watch employees' work habits, as Internet abuse is an often-cited complaint by companies. Designing a modern office will add to a work environment that may otherwise feel inhibited by a mundane atmosphere. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Choose a color that facilitates hard work, yet decreases tension and stress. Vibrant colors should be used sparingly in the work environment. For example, a bright red wall may contribute a warm, fuzzy feeling in some people, but promote aggressiveness in others. Neutral or pastel colors are generally used, because they don't provoke strong feelings. Come up with a swatch you want to use for choosing wall color, office upholstery furniture and deck furniture. Consult a swatch book at a paint, hardware or home improvement store.

2
Draw a diagram of the office area. Include the square footage of the room. To obtain the square footage, measure the length and the width of the room. Multiply those numbers. Include immovable objects, such as windows, doors, counters and staircases, on the diagram.

Shop for desks designed in a minimalist vein. Use contemporary office furniture made of recycled materials such as felled trees, plastics or reclaimed wood. Look for desks with organizational shelving or have enough counter space for shelving. Keeping desks uncluttered is important for quick turnaround time for projects.

4
Pick a chair with adequate back support. The chair should offer lumbar support, adjustable back rests and have comfortable upholstery. Sit in the chair at the desk you intend to buy for the office. Make sure that legs easily fit underneath the desk.

5
Organize the office furniture by measuring an employee's work station, which includes the desk and chair. Using the chart and the square footage, draw the intended location of each work station on the diagram. Make sure there's enough access behind chairs and around desks for employees to move freely about the office. Supply closets and copier equipment should be easily accessed.

Tips & Warnings
Add natural elements. Decorate the office with plants and small ornamental trees to promote a sense of the outdoors, rather than being confined to a room.
Don't hang artwork on the wall, such as nudes or graphic images, that may be deemed offensive for employees or clients.
