How to Declare a Raffle Drawing

How to Declare a Raffle Drawing thumbnail
Raffle tickets allow people to cash in on a raffle win.

Raffle drawings are a great way to drum up interest in a business and offer people an incentive to shop at your store. However, it's not always easy to get people to participate in your raffle, which defeats the purpose of holding a raffle in the first place. Luckily, there are some simple, but effective, communications measures you can implement to ensure that word gets out about your raffle, so you bring in the largest possible number of people.

Things You'll Need

  • In-store signage
  • Newspaper/flier advertisement
  • Unique raffle tickets

Instructions

    • 1

Put signs up in conspicuous places around the store to advertise the raffle. Post information on the inside and outside of the entrance/exit doors, around the checkout counter (if applicable), and in the bathrooms. Make sure the signs are easy to understand, visually appealing, and contain clear information about the "what," "how" and "when" of the raffle.

    • 2

Take out a small (or not-so-small, depending on the size of your business/raffle) ad space in the local newspaper and/or grocery-store fliers. You'll reach people who might not otherwise come into your store, and possibly get them to your event.

    • 3

Tell as many people as you can about the raffle, in detail, and hand out unique raffle tickets to everyone you can find. Word-of-mouth is still by far the most effective marketing plan in operation, and people with positive things to say about your raffle are more likely to spread the word.
