How Do I Create a Works Cited Page?
Writers use a style manual to create a Works Cited page in the correct format. The Works Cited page gives credit to the original source of information. Noting sources in this manner is called citation, which is required to avoid plagiarism. The Turabian style manual is suitable for all subjects and the MLA (Modern Language Association) style is used for liberal arts and the humanities. Suggestions here refer to the MLA style.

1
Label the Works Cited page by typing those words centered at the top of a page placed at the end of the research paper. Double space all citations. Do not skip lines between each entry.
-
2
List a book with one author with the last and first name of the author, the title of the book in italics, the date of publication, the publishing house and the place of publication, as follows:
Last Name, First Name. Title of the Book, Place of Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication. Print.
The word "print" indicates the medium of publication, which in this case is a hard copy or book.

3
Cite a book with more than one author with the last and first name of the first author, then the first and last name of subsequent authors. Include all information as stated above, as follows:
Last Name, First Name, and First Name Last Name. Title of the Book, Place of Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication. Print.
For books with more than three authors, you can list the first author only, and then the phrase "et al." meaning "and others." Another option is to list all of the authors with the order used on the title page.

4
Record a citation for two or more books by the same author in the same format, with titles of the books listed alphabetically. Ignore such articles as "A," "An" or "The" when alphabetizing, although the words are included in the title. For the first book, list the author's last name, first name, and other information as above. For the next book or books, use three hyphens and a period to indicate the same author's name, and list the required information, as follows:
Last Name, First Name. Title of the Book. Place of Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication. Print.
N---. Title of the Book. Place of Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication. Print. -
5
Record sources in an anthology with an editor by the last name of the author, the first name, the name of the work, and the name of the anthology. Write Ed. for editor, then the first and last name of the editor. State where the anthology was published, then list the publisher and the date of publication. Include the page numbers used.
Last Name, First Name. "Name of Work" Name of Anthology. Ed. First Name Last Name of Editor. Place of Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication. Page Numbers. Print.

Tips & Warnings
Double check to make sure you include all the necessary information in the correct format on the Works Cited page.
Keep track of sources as you are doing your research. It is a lot easier to note citation information as you go along, than to reconstruct the information after the paper is written.
Take citation seriously to avoid an accusation of plagiarism. You must give credit where credit is due by citing sources accurately.
