How to Seal Paper Between Wax Paper

Seal shapes of paper between sheets of wax paper to create colorful suncatchers. Even young children can create lovely "stained glass windows," by placing paper shapes on waxed paper. Use an iron to seal the paper pieces in place between the two sheets of waxed paper. Young children will create colorful random designs, while older children can make representational paper art.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a sheet of wax paper on the ironing board. Arrange paper shapes on the wax paper. Leave empty a 1/2-inch border around the edge of the paper.

    • 2

Lay a second sheet of wax paper on top of the paper shapes.

    • 3

Press with a warm iron until the top layer of wax paper bends around the edges of the paper shapes. Press around all edges to be sure they are sealed. Allow the paper to cool for a minute.

    • 4

Cut around the paper shapes, leaving at least 1/4 inch of wax paper on all sides.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add glitter or crayon shavings between the layers before pressing.

  • Press flowers and leaves instead of paper shapes.

  • Do not allow young children to operate an iron unsupervised.
