How to Tell If a Fendi Purse Is Authentic

Due to the popularity of the purses, many convincing knock-offs--inferior copies sold at a substantially lower price--are being produced and sold as originals. However, there are many subtle differences between authentic and fake Fendi bags. Manufacturers of knock-offs often overlook small details when mass producing their purses. Examine the stitching on the purse. The stitching should be clean and straight with no loose threads. If you see crooked stitching on the outside or inside of the purse or threads coming loose, the purse is probably fake. Fendi purses are handmade with careful craftsmanship and high-quality materials, so there will be no sign of shoddy workmanship.

Check the hardware on the purse. Every zipper, snap and buckle should have the Fendi logo engraved on it.

Look at the Fendi pattern on the purse. There should be a repeating pattern of the letter F ... two Fs, facing each other, with one of the letters inverted and upside down. The pattern should be embossed into the leather and not look as if it were simply printed onto the purse.

Look for the Fendi authenticity card. It should be embossed on a leather tag in one of the inner pockets of the purse.

Check the "Made in" tag inside the purse. Fendi purses are handmade in Italy, so the tag should say "Made in Italy."

Check the purse for a hologram sticker. Newer Fendi bags have an encoded hologram sticker to help distinguish authentic purses from knock-offs.
