How to Install Motion Sensor Floodlights

      Turn off the circuit in your electric box that controls the electric line where you'll be installing the motion sensor floodlight.

      Install a new electrical box if the one you currently have is too small for your motion sensor floodlight. Unscrew the screws holding the electric box to the wall with a Phillips screwdriver. Screw the screws into the new electric box where the old box was located.

      Mount your new motion sensor to the electric box according to the manufacturer's instructions then connect the wires. Feed the wires through the rubber gasket in the electric box; connect the white wires (neutral), black wires (hot) and bare copper or green wires (ground) with by screwing a wire connector to all three.

      Screw the fixture screws into place with the screwdriver. The gasket on the back of the fixture should seal around the edge of the box. To keep moisture out, apply silicone caulk around the gasket with the caulking gun.

      Position the motion sensor floodlight towards the area you want to cover, directing the light to the area you want illuminated. Set the distance range you want on the indicator on the light. You should also be able to select an automatic shut-off time for the light.
