How to Remove XP Spyware 2009 With SmitFraudFix
XP Spyware 2009, also known as XP Anti-Spyware 2009, is a Trojan that infects Microsoft operating systems Windows XP and higher. The Trojan produces a variety of pop-ups warning of virus threats, may trigger anti-virus programs such as Norton Anti-virus every few seconds, display fake spyware warnings, and advertise fictitious anti-spyware software. The Trojan slows down a system and is deleted with a special removal tool. The SmitFraudFix tool is free and removes XP Spyware 2009.

Launch an Internet browser. Go to the Bleeping Computer website. (See Resource and follow the on-screen directions to download SmitFraudFix.) Make a note of the download location. Common download folders include the "Desktop," "My Documents" or "My Downloads."

Reboot the computer. Press the "F8" key as the Windows splash screen appears.

Select "Safe Mode with Networking" from the list. Allow Windows to load into safe mode.

Go to "Start" and launch "My Computer." Navigate to the folder where SmitFraudFix was downloaded.

Double-click on the SmitFraudFix executable file. Press the "4" key and follow the on-screen directions to check for updates.

Press the 2 button in the main SmitFraudFix window to scan the disk drives. Allow the scan to run. The scan takes several minutes and should not be interrupted.

Reboot the computer when instructed to by SmitFraudFix. Allow the computer to load into Windows.

Check the computer for the visual signs of XP Virus 2009, including persistent fake virus warnings. Run SmitFraudFix again if any signs of the Trojan are found.

Tips & Warnings
When using Windows XP, disable "System Restore" before rebooting the computer to run SmitFraudFix. The system restore options are listed in a tab under "System" in "Control Panel."
Do not reset the computer or otherwise interrupt SmitFraudFix while a scan is in progress. The removal tool can damage system files if it is not allowed to finish running.
