How to Make Windows XP Load Faster

Windows XP's startup and loading process is affected by how many programs you have running and installed on the computer at any one time. By reducing the number of programs that start with the computer and uninstalling any programs that you don't use, you can greatly increase the loading (and overall) speed of your Windows XP computer.

Instructions

  1. Remove Startup Programs

    • 1

Open the Start Menu and click on "Run."

    • 2

      Type "msconfig" and press "Enter."

    • 3

Click on "Startup" and then uncheck the programs that you don't want to start with the computer. Restart the computer to apply the settings changes.

    Uninstall Unwanted Programs

    • 4

Open the Start Menu and click on "Control Panel."

    • 5

      Open "Add/Remove Programs."

    • 6

Click on the program you want to remove and then click on the "Remove" button to uninstall the program from your computer.
