How to Delete Java Version 5 Update 6
Java is a requisite for running many PC games, utilities, as well as personal and business applications. The Java computer language is extensive and is actively used on more than 850 million PCs. To keep up with demand for its product, Java periodically releases updates addressing performance, stability and security. Generally, PC users are grateful for Java's dedication to ongoing support. However, there are instances where Windows XP, Vista, or 7 operating systems are adversely affected by Java updates. Therefore, those users may need to uninstall and delete the Java software.

Click "Start" on the taskbar, which resembles the Windows orb logo. Select the Control Panel on the Start menu. Click on "Add or Remove Programs" to open the dialog box.

Scroll through the list in the "Currently installed programs" section and find the Java program, alphabetically. Left-click the program once to highlight it, which will show button options.

Click the button labeled "Remove." Wait for Windows to uninstall and delete the Java program files from your system. Respond to any prompts. Be ready to restart.
Delete in Windows Vista and Windows 7

Click on "Start" on the taskbar to open the Start menu. Select the Control Panel, then choose "Programs." Click on "Uninstall a Program."

Scroll through the list of programs in the "Name" column and search for the Java program alphabetically.

Left-click the Java program once to highlight it. Click on "Uninstall" above the list of programs. Wait for Windows to uninstall and delete the Java program files. Monitor for any warning messages and acknowledge them. Prepare for an operating system restart.

Tips & Warnings
Alternately, access the Programs wizard in Windows XP, Vista or 7 by clicking on "Run" after accessing the Control Panel on the Start menu. Type the command "appwiz.cpl," then click the "OK" button. Also, consider using the Windows "System Restore" wizard to undo a Java update.
Removing Java may make some PC functions and applications useless.
