Build a free website with a lot of space for media and text

Unless you are willing to pay for a host for your website, there will always be a limit on allowed space. However, the server Wordpress allows you to build a fully functional website free of charge with plenty of space--three gigabytes--for thousands of pages of text, pictures, graphics and video.

Instructions

1. Go to Wordpress.com and click "Sign Up Now." Enter your desired username, password, and email address into the form. Click the box indicating you agree to the Wordpress terms of service, select "Gimme a blog!", and click next.

2. Log in to your email and open the email from Wordpress. Click on the confirmation link to confirm and open your account.

3. Log in to your wordpress blog. Click "Themes", which is on the bottom left in the "Appearance" section. Browse through the the available templates, click "Preview" to see what they look like, then click "Activate" when you find one you like for your website.

4. Click "Pages" on the right side of your dashboard. Click "Add New" to add and name different pages for your website depending on the content. For example, you may wish to include pages such as "About Me," "Contact," "Services," or "Media."

5. Click "Add New" under "Posts" on the left side of your dashboard. Give each post you add a title, the main text, and tags, which you can add on the right and which helps increase traffic to your website by aiding people using a search engine to find the information you offer. On the right side under "Categories", choose the page title you wish the post to appear on.

6. Add images to any post by clicking the image icon next to "Upload/Insert" beneath the title. Choose any image from your computer or enter the URL for a picture on-line, then click "Insert into Post."

7. Add video to any post by uploading or finding the video on another on-line source such as YouTube, copying the "embed" code, and pasting it into the HTML version of your post. (Switch from Visual to HTML mode in your post by clicking the HTML tab at the top right of your post.) Your free Wordpress website allows for thousands of pictures and hundreds of videos.

8. Click "Publish" when you are finished and click "View Post" to check out your free website. If you need even more space, browse the various options by clicking "Upgrade" on the left side of your dashboard. For a yearly fee Wordpress allows for a variety of space upgrades.
