Wireless Internet was once unheard of, but is now perhaps one of the most popular types of Internet available. The Internet signal is sent out through a wireless router or modem and is captured by the computer's wireless Internet receiver, so no matter where you are in your home, you should be able to get a connection. You must set up and prepare your equipment before you can start surfing the Web wirelessly.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the computer is unable to connect wirelessly at first, connect the computer to an empty port on the router with an Ethernet cord for a wired connection. An Internet settings window should pop up automatically. Follow the on-screen directions to set up the wireless connection.

  • If you have an older computer, you may need a USB wireless Internet adapter to receive the signal.
