Instructions

    • 1

Measure your waist with the waist tape measure. For best results, stand up straight, refrain from sucking in, and pull up or remove your shirt and lower the waistline of your shorts or pants.

    • 2

Measure out double your waistline on the roll of duct tape. Unravel your duct tape on a long, clean, flat surface to avoid space or dirt troubles. A 35-inch waistline will require 70 inches of duct tape. Draw a mark with your pen noting at which spot you will need to cut. Cut the duct tape along this mark. Place the duct tape roll aside.

    • 3

Use your ruler to mark a 1-inch line from either edge of the tape. Have your cut strip of duct tape placed sticky side up. Fold the duct tape roughly in half, sticky side to sticky side, allowing room for the 1 inch of visible sticky side tape you marked earlier. Work slowly and carefully to avoid any uneven folding.

    • 4

Measure how thick you wish your belt to be and mark its thickness with your pen. Consider the sizes of the loops on your pants. Using your ruler, continue this line along the entire strip of duct tape. Cut along this line to create your belt's width.

    • 5

Place one of the key rings on the exposed 1 inch of sticky tape. Pull the tape through the ring and fold it over, sticking itself to the remainder of the belt. Cut a sliver off of the end without a ring. Pull the tape back, allowing for the insertion of the second ring. Reseal the tape around the ring, adding additional duct tape for reinforcement.

    • 6

Slide the belt through the loops on your pants. Connect the two key rings to complete your duct tape belt.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure your key rings are attachable to one another.

  • Various clasps or buckles can be substituted with the key rings. Experiment with different sizes and buckles to create your own duct tape belt wardrobe.

  • Do not get frustrated if your first attempt is unsuccessful. Duct tape generally has 60 yards worth on one roll, so try again as needed.

  • As with all sharp objects, practice safe conduct and responsibility.
