How to Take Apart a PS2 Memory Card
The PlayStation 2 (PS2) memory card is a removable flash memory drive. It works with PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 gaming consoles. Users save game information such as game progress, game stats and characters to the memory card. Although this is not recommended, users can open the memory card to see the inner components and also swap out the existing memory with memory from a larger-capacity PS2 memory card.
Instructions
-
-
1
Place the memory card facedown on a table or firm surface.
-
2
Locate the two small screws on the back of the memory card near the bottom. Use the Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two screws.
-
-
3
Grasp the sides of the memory card and pull the two pieces apart. If they do not separate, carefully insert the tip of the flathead screwdriver into the seam between the front and back pieces of the memory card and pry it apart.
-
4
Lift the small circuit board out of the plastic casing. If the circuit board is stuck, carefully use the razor blade to cut the adhesive around the edges until the board comes loose.

Tips & Warnings
Use extreme care when using a razor blade, as there is a risk of hurting yourself or damaging the circuit board.
While Sony indicates that some PS2 games will work on a PS3 console, note that some game files may not be accessible from the memory card on the PS3 device.
