How to Clean a Beretta Gun
The Beretta 92FS semi-automatic pistol has become one of the most recognizable--and one of the most common--handguns in the world. Examples of the 92FS can be seen everywhere from Hollywood movies to international police forces. For the new Beretta owner, it is vitally important to know how to clean your new weapon so as to ensure proper operation when the time comes to fire it. Fortunately, cleaning a Beretta 92FS is a relatively simple affair, needing only a few tools and a good lubricant.
Things You'll Need
- Gun oil
- Soft cloth(s)
- Small wire brush
- Small square cloth swatches
- Shop tweezers

1
Apply a liberal amount of gun oil to the wire brush, then slide the brush into the barrel and scrub the inside for several seconds. If the wire brush dries out during this process, remove the brush from the barrel and re-apply the oil to the brush, then continue scrubbing the inside of the barrel.
-
2
Push a cloth swatch through the barrel with the wire brush to dry off any excess fluid that might have accumulated. Repeat this process until no more gun oil comes off on the swatch.

3
Pull the slide back and lock it in place, then place a small amount of gun oil on a soft cloth and rub down the outside of the barrel with the cloth. Once this is done, apply a similar amount of oil to one of the swatches and use the tweezers to run the oiled swatch through the inside of the barrel in order to lightly oil it.

4
Apply more gun oil to the soft cloth, then use the cloth to clean the slide--with the slide still pulled back, of course--and slide rails. Run the cloth underneath the slide as well so as to clean and lubricate the inside of the slide. Use a dry cloth to wipe the excess oil off once you have finished.
-
5
Soak a rag in gun oil and use it to wipe the outer surfaces of the gun and gunframe to remove any gunpowder residue. Wipe clean afterwards.
