How to Replace Glass Stove Tops
Glass stove tops have become a normal fixture for electric stoves. Their sleek appearance and easy cleaning are welcome additions to any kitchen. Unfortunately, glass cooktops can scratch and even break. The good news is that you do not have to replace the entire stove, only the glass top. Replacing an old or broken stove top with a new one gives new life to an older stove, allowing you to save money. Does this Spark an idea?

Unplug the stove. Unscrew the screws holding the glass stove top in place with either a Phillips or a flat-head screwdriver, depending on the type of screws used.

Lift the glass stove top from the stove. If rear brackets secure the stove top in place, lift the front of the glass and bring the top forward to remove from the brackets. Lay the old stove top onto a safe area where it will not drop and break.

Place the new glass stove top over the stove. Lift the front of the stove top to allow the back to slide down into the brackets. Lower the front of the stove top slowly to the surface. Replace the screws into the screw holes, and tighten down with the screwdriver.

Clean the stove top with a cleaner made for glass stove tops and a clean cloth. Replug the stove and test the burners.

Tips & Warnings
Select a replacement glass stove top with the same model number as your current stove. Replacing a glass stove top with a different model number may result in the glass top fitting incorrectly.
If the burners on the new stove top don't ignite, call an appliance professional to check the electrical wiring.
