How to Tie Shoelaces Straight Across
Modern shoelaces, cords made of synthetic fibers and capped with a plastic or metal sheath, keep your shoes tight on your feet. Shoes will commonly have six eyelets sewn into their fabric. Shoelaces are designed to pass through each of these eyelets making a pattern of cord running across the tongue of the shoe and keeping it secure on your foot. One of the most commonly used shoe lacing methods is the straight bar method. This makes the laces run straight across from eyelet to eyelet and is one of the more orderly methods in use. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Insert each end of the shoelace down through the top of the bottom eyelets (at the end closest to the toe), forming a bar running across the tongue of the shoe.

2
Feed the left shoelace strap all the way up to and out of the top left shoe eyelet.

3
Run the right end of the shoelace up to emerge from the second eyelet from the bottom (the next one up from where you started), then run it across and down through the eyelet to the left, forming another bar across the tongue.
-
4
Thread the shoelace up and through the next eyelet on the left, then pull it across and down through the eyelet on the right forming another bar across the tongue.
-
5
Continue on in this manner, alternating left to right, until all remaining eyelets are threaded and have a straight bar running in-between all sets.
