How to Clean a Weber Genesis Grill
Since 1952, Weber has designed and manufactured a wide range of charcoal and gas grills. The Weber Genesis series of gas grills, offer outdoor cooks a wide, porcelain-enamel clad cast iron or non-clad stainless steel grilling surface housed in a welded stainless steel or colored porcelain-clad stainless steel frame. The grills also feature a warming rack, side burners, built-in thermometer, flavor bars and optional griddle. Cleaning a Weber grill requires that you regularly remove the build-up of charred materials from the grilling surface and wash the exterior. Does this Spark an idea?

- Steel brush
- Brass brush
- Water
- Mild detergent
- Cloths
- Nonabrasive nylon scrubbing pad or brush (optional)
- Vegetable oil

Burn off food and brush away the charred buildup from your Weber Genesis gas grill's grate, flavor bars and burners with a steel brush right before each time you use the grill to cook. At the same time, brush buildup from the interior of the lid with a brass brush.

Wash the exterior of your Genesis grill, in the direction of the stainless steel grain if not porcelain-clad, with a slightly soapy cloth as needed during the grilling season. Rinse with warm water and wipe completely dry.

Remove the bottom tray and catch pan after each use, and clean with mild detergent and a cloth to remove buildup of grease and other debris. Rinse and wipe dry thoroughly.

Clean the grates, warming rack, burners and/or griddle once at least every two weeks or as desired with a warm, soapy cloth. If necessary, scrub with a nonabrasive, nylon scrubbing pad or brush. Rinse and wipe dry.

Pull the grates and/or griddle from your grill after each wash and season the pieces by applying a thin layer of vegetable oil to surfaces with a paper towel. Preheat the grill for 15 minutes with the burners knobs turned to "Medium-Off-Medium" settings and the lid closed and then open the lid and install the pieces. Close the lid, wait 60 to 90 minutes and turn off the grill.

Tips & Warnings
To reduce the amount of cleaning required each season, wipe grease and other debris from the warm lid interior after grilling with a paper towel.
Never wash the grates or griddle in a dishwasher as doing so can result in damage. Never use harsh or abrasive cleaners or cleaners containing mineral spirits, acid or xylene.
Air-drying any part of your griddle can result in water spots and/or corrosion.
Never season the grates or griddle with salted oil.
Never use any object (for example, wire or toothpick) to enlarge the burner ports.
