How to Become an Allstate Insurance Agent

The Allstate Corporation is the second-largest personal insurance provider in the United States. Founded in 1931 as part of Sears and Roebuck, the company offers several lines of insurance, including auto, home, life and investment services. The company is also the sponsor of a number of major sporting events, such as the Allstate 400 NASCAR race and the Allstate Sugar Bowl. Allstate agents work independently and run their own agencies. They sell mutual funds and annuities in addition to insurance policies. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, an insurance agent can expect to earn between $33,000 to $68,730 per year.

Point your browser to www.allstate.com/careers/Become-agent.aspx. Click on the link titled “Inquire online.” This will open up another page with a list of employment opportunities for allstate .orporation.

Choose “Sales” and “Exclusive Agent” from the drop-down menus. Select the state in which you would like to work from the location menu. Click the button that reads “Search for Opportunities.”

Locate the town and location you would like to work in. Choose between “Inquire” or “Add to My Job Cart.”

Accept or decline the terms of the privacy agreement on the next page. Create an account and provide the information requested, by choosing the “New User” option. Provide a user name, password and email address. You will also be required to provide a security question and answer in case you forget your login details.

Provide your resume and work history. You will be required to answer questions regarding your current licensing as an insurance agent and whether you have ever been convicted of insurance fraud.

Wait to be contacted by an Allstate representative. If Allstate is interested in pursuing your application for employment, a representative will contact you to arrange an interview.
