How to Recover a Bookmark on a MacBook
Bookmarks in a web browser serve to collect the most important, favorite websites that are visited most often. When the bookmarks disappear either due to user error or a system crash, recollecting the sites can be terribly time-consuming. Apple made Time Machine part of Mac OS X to make backing up files easier, however, the software must have been activated and used before a crash to be of any help.

1
Open a new Finder window. Click on the symbol that resembles a miniature house. This often has the user's name beside it.
-
2
Scroll down to "Library." Within the Library file there will be a file labeled "Safari." Click on "Safari" and scroll down to "Bookmarks.plist." Hold down the "Option" key and drag the file to the desktop. This won't delete the file; it will only copy it to the new location.

3
Open the Safari application and click "File." Scroll down to "Import Bookmarks." Click this and follow the prompts to select "Bookmarks.plist" from the desktop to import. If this step does not work, continue to Step 4.

Open Time Machine. This software makes backups of files on Mac OS X. The Time Machine software must have been activated prior to losing the initial bookmarks or it won't help. Follow the prompts to move back to the time period before the bookmarks disappeared and prompt the software to restore the application to that time.

Tips & Warnings
Bookmarks will only be restored for the user that is logged in. In the event that bookmarks need to be restored for each account, you must log in as each user.
Contact Apple Support if the above steps don't restore the bookmarks (see Resources).
