      Wash and dry your hands to avoid bacteria from coming in contact with your skin. Wash one lemon and carefully slice it in half. Use your hands or a lemon squeezer to squeeze the lemon juice into a container. Add 3 tsp. of baking soda to the lemon juice and stir it around with your fingers until combined.

      Use your fingertips to take the lemon juice and baking soda from the container. Gently use your fingertips to massage it in a circular motion onto the breakout area. Treating African American acne is more challenging due the pigmentation of the skin, but this solution effectively cleanses the bacteria, dead skin cells, oil and dirt from the pores.

      Leave the lemon juice and baking soda mixture on your face for 15 to 20 minutes. Use warm water to gently scrub away the solution from your face. The warm water will help to cleanse away oils and dirt that causes the pores to be blocked.
