How to Open a Zip File With Windows Vista

A ZIP file, having the extension “.zip,” contains one or more compressed files or folders. Compressing by creating ZIP files reduces the space occupied by files on the computer. To open a ZIP file, you must unzip it. Windows Vista has native support for ZIP files. Use Windows Explorer to easily open such compressed files.

  Right-click the ZIP file. Select "Extract All" from the context menu.

  Check the box "Show Extracted files when complete" and click the button "Extract" to open the ZIP file's contents in the new Windows Explorer window.
