How to Season a Sunbeam Waffle Iron
Sunbeam waffle makers have cooked up hot breakfasts in the kitchen for more than 70 years. Properly seasoning the waffle grid with oil prevents the waffles from sticking. Season a new waffle iron before use. Even older waffle makers can benefit from occasional seasoning, at least once a year or more frequently, depending on how often you make waffles. Tips & Warnings
The appliance may smoke as a result of the hot oil, which is a natural part of the seasoning process.
Wipe down a cooled waffle iron with a clean cloth or paper towels to remove any baked-on batter. Once the iron is seasoned, do not wash it in soapy water.
Use caution around hot waffle iron surfaces. Move the iron only with hot mitts, holding the outside of the appliance.
Newer Sunbeam waffle makers may be coated with a non-stick surface, rather than cast iron, and may not require seasoning.
