Instructions

    • 1

Pour hair bleach into a plastic bowl. Add hair peroxide to the bleach, stirring them together with a hair dye brush. Try to purchase a 20-percent peroxide---it's safer for hair, but will still bleach it. For naturally jet-black hair, you may need to purchase a 30- or 40-percent peroxide.

    • 2

Apply the bleach to your hair using the hair dye brush. Make sure that you completely saturate all of your hair, including underneath your hair and your roots.

    • 3

Keep the hair bleach in your hair for the time specified in the instructions. Every hair bleach is different and requires a different amount of time to "set."

    • 4

Rinse the bleach out of your hair. Your hair will now be left an orange or straw-yellow color and will need to be dyed.

    • 5

Open your permanent hair dye kit. Included will be instructions, hair dye, hair developer and a conditioning cream. Pour the hair dye into the bottle of hair developer. Shake the bottle to thoroughly mix the ingredients.

    • 6

Pour the hair dye over your hair. Massage the dye in, making sure your entire head is completely saturated.

    • 7

Keep the dye in your hair for the amount of time specified in the instructions.

    • 8

Rinse your hair out in the shower. When the water runs clear, apply the conditioning cream to your hair. Leave the cream in for three to five minutes before rinsing out.

    • 9

Apply a deep conditioning cream to your hair weekly. Bleaching and dyeing your hair can damage it. Using a conditioning cream will keep it healthy, as well as prevent it from drying out.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wear gloves and old clothing when bleaching or dyeing your hair, to prevent staining.
