Alumni associations offer graduates a variety of benefits that range from auditing courses and attending functions at the school to reduced rates on insurance and credit cards. Alumni association credit cards may offer benefits to you as an alumnus, such as introductory interest rates, and to the alumni association by helping to support alumni association programs.

Contact your school's alumni association. In most cases, you can navigate to the alumni section of your alma mater's website to see whether it offers a credit card. If you cannot find the information, you can call your alumni association and request information about alumni association credit cards.

Read the terms and conditions of the credit card. Any time you are interested in applying for a credit card, you must read the terms and conditions to make sure there are no hidden fees or unacceptable interest rate increases. Check for the introductory interest rate, what the rate will become after the introductory period and whether there is an annual fee.

Complete the credit card application. In most cases, the credit card application can be completed over the Internet, by paper application or over the telephone. The application will require you to submit information such as name, address, telephone number, Social Security Number, and employment and income information.
