How to Build a Machine Deck

Machines in the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game join forces to protect each other from devastating attacks. This monster type contains creatures which attach to other cards through the "Union" mechanic, preventing the destruction of another monster on the field. Machine decks specialize in creating heavy-hitting monsters that plow through defenders with high attack values. The creature type also functions as an assembly line by constantly producing more machines for the fight. Many machines explode when destroyed in combat, unleashing further special attacks on the field as they go.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose 18 or more machine-type monster cards. Solid choices include Machina Gearframe to speed up the production of machine monsters, while Machina Peacekeeper brings out more troops when it is destroyed. Both of these machines may attach themselves to another monster to prevent its destruction. Machina Fortress provides excellent damage in the late game, and cannot fall in battle without taking an enemy card with it.

    • 2

Add at least 12 machine-support spell cards. Support spells for a machine deck should focus on bringing more machines into play and increasing their attack values. Machina Armored Unit constantly produces new machines to take the place of the fallen, while Machine Assembly Line scavenges defeated units to rebuild lost monsters. Limiter Removal doubles the attack value of a machine, but reduces it to scrap at the end of the turn.

    • 3

Select 10 or more machine-based trap cards. Machine-based traps damage opponents directly or increase the attack power of your machines. Cyber Summon Blaster deals 300 damage to an opponent's life total for every machine you summon. Machine King--3000 B.C. scraps other machines to add their attack values to his own power. Rare Metalmorph increases the attack power of any of your machines by 500 and prevents the first spell cast against that monster.

Tips & Warnings

  • Focus on flooding the field early with small machines, then use their "Union" ability to form massive constructions for the winning blow.

  • Tournament-legal Yu-Gi-Oh! decks can have up to three copies of any card.
