How to Update Java in Linux

Java is a programming language that runs on all types of operating systems. If you run Linux, you have to update your Java client manually from the Java website. This differs from other operating systems, where updates are generally configured to be delivered to your computer automatically, without the need for human intervention.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your Linux computer and open your web browser.

    • 2

Navigate to the Java client download page and click on the "Download" button next to the version of Linux you use (see Resources).

    • 3

Save the file to your computer and then double-click on it to open the package.

    • 4

Double-click on the file named "install" within the download package and the latest version of Java is installed on your Linux computer.
