How to Install an Air-conditioner in a Pop-up Camper
Pop-up campers are transported as small, movable trailers. However, once you are situated at the campground or local RV park, you may open up the pop-up camper to expose a sleeping area and maybe even a table. It does not have all the perks of a large RV, but it does provide a few additional comforts over sleeping on the ground with a tent. Because it is often hot when camping, you may want to cool the interior of the camper with a portable air conditioner.

1
Close all the windows in the pop-up camper. These windows are made out of mesh instead of glass, however there is a vinyl covering on the interior to prevent heat from entering or exiting. Closing the windows helps prevent the cool air from escaping.
-
2
Place the portable air conditioner in the middle of the pop-up camper. This gives the best air circulation. You may not use a standard window unit, as the camper is not strong enough to hold up the device.

3
Extend the power cable out the front door of the camper. Even with the cable running out the door you should be able to close it without too much trouble.
-
4
Connect the power cable to an extension cord. You are connecting the air-conditioner to a portable generator, and these are often noisy. The further away from your camper you are able to place it the better. If you are in a small campground it may not be possible to use the device if you are in close proximity to your fellow campers.

5
Connect the extension cable into the generator and power it on. This provides power for your AC unit for several hours (depending on the brand of the generator).
