How to Copy a Chart of Account From Quickbooks 2006

When you are setting up a company file using the QuickBooks 2006 financial software, you are prompted to enter specific information about your company. The data you provide is used to create the chart of accounts that includes the job titles of employees and their pay rate. You can easily copy the chart of accounts from one of your QuickBooks files to a new one using the Import and Export features available within the application.

      Open the file on your computer that contains the chart of account that you want to copy.

      Click on the "File" option and then click on the "Utilities" option. Click on the "Export" option.

      Click on the "List to IIF" option and then select a location on your computer to save the chart of account. Click on the "Export" button and close out of QuickBooks.

      Open a new QuickBooks 2006 file and then click on the "File" option. Click on the "Utilities" option and then click on the "Import" option.

      Click on the "IIF Files" option and select the file that you exported. Click on the "Import" button. The chart of account will then be copied to your new file.
