How to Use Gator Grit Sandpaper & Tools
Gator Finishing Products offers two kinds of GatorGrit sandpapers: multi-surface sandpaper and premium sandpaper. The multi-surface sandpaper is sold in 9-by-11-inch sheets and can be used on many surfaces, including wood and drywall. Premium sandpaper also comes in 9-by-11-inch sheets but has a special purpose: It's used for stripping layers of paint, varnish, epoxy, and other materials. Using a GatorGrit sandpaper with your hand or with a tool is a simple process that requires only a few basic hand motions.

1
Choose the right GatorGrit sandpaper and accompanying hand tool for your job. Check the large encircled number on the packaging to see what the grit of the sandpaper is used for. The numbers go through the generic procedure of a job, from stripping to sanding to finishing. Number 1 is stripping; number 2 is sanding; and number 3 is finishing.

Choose the right Gator tool for your sandpaper. Choose a sandpaper block if you can easily reach the area you need to sand, or, if the area is hard to reach, choose a pole sander. For both types of tools, simply cut your sheet of GatorGrit sandpaper so that it has the same width as the surface of your tool. Center the cut sandpaper sheet under the rubbing surface of the tool and fold the flaps under the hooks or tabs on the other side of the tool's face to secure the paper.

Rub the sandpaper or the sandpaper attached to the block or pole sander against the surface of the material you wish to sand. Use an easy, gentle motion for sanding and finishing but a firmer motion for stripping. For wood, sand in the direction of the wood's grain. Otherwise, use a back and forth motion to cover the area you want sanded.
