How to Make Custom Google Maps
Google Maps is a free Web application that allows you to create and share customized online maps. Use it to share location details for events and parties. Add details to location markers, such as an address or event start date. You can use the maps to show your progress on long tours or worldwide journeys. The Google Maps appearance is clear and uncomplicated, so you should be able to get a personalized map up and running in a few minutes.

Visit the Google.com website. Click on the blue "Maps" link at the top of the page. Click "My Maps" on the main maps page. A map of the U.S. will show up as the default.

Add a title for your map in the title field. If you want to add a short description about what the map is for, enter it below in the description field.

Select the "Public" button to allow the map to be found by anyone using Google maps, or choose "Unlisted" to keep the map accessible only to those with the map's URL address.

Select the icon on the map shaped like a hand to move the map window to the location of your choice. Alternatively, enter a zip code or city to find your chosen area.

Click on the blue bulb icon to add a placemark on the map. Click at the point you want the placemark to appear, then click again and add any relevant information, such as name and details of the location.

Select the line icon to insert blue lines across the map to show links between points or journey routes. Click on any point, then move the cursor to another location and click again to complete the line.

Click the "Done" button when the map is complete.
