Setting up hanging folders is one of the best ways to keep track of all your important files. Hanging folders are designed to fit inside a desk drawer, making it easy to find the important documents you need when you need them. Setting up these folders is not difficult, but it is important to make sure the folder frame fits the desk drawer properly.

Things You Will Need
  • File folder frame

  • Desk

  • Measuring tape

  • Hanging folders

  • Folder inserts

Measure the desk drawer where you plan to put the hanging folder frame. Measure the frame to make sure it will fit. Most hanging folder frames come with tabs that can be broken off to make them fit any size desk drawer.

Place the hanging folder frame inside the desk drawer. Make sure the frame fits in the drawer securely.

Remove the hanging folder tabs from the box and write or type labels on the tab inserts. Create a tab insert for each type of document you plan to file.

Insert the first file folder tab in the folder. Place the tab on the left-hand side of the folder. Sit the hanging folder inside the frame, making sure that the tabs on the side of the folder extend over the sides of the frame.

Insert the next tab into the next hanging folder, placing the tab slightly to the right of where the first one was located. This will make it easier to read the labels at a glance.

Place the next tab in the frame. Continue to add new hanging folders to the frame until all folders are in place. File your documents in the folders.
